Privacy Policy

Openbroca turns your voice into polished text. This policy explains what we collect to do that, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Last updated

This Privacy Policy describes how Openbroca (“Openbroca,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information when you use the Openbroca macOS application (the “App”) and the website at openbroca.com (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

Account information

You sign in with Google or GitHub. We never see or store a password. Through your chosen provider we receive basic identity details — your name, email address, profile image, and a provider account identifier — which we use to create and secure your account.

Voice recordings

When you dictate, the App captures audio from your microphone and sends it to a third-party AI provider for speech recognition. Openbroca does not store your audio. The provider processes the audio under its own terms; we do not promise a provider’s retention behavior on its behalf.

Transcripts and refined text

The recognized text and the AI-refined result are saved to your account history. We keep them indefinitely, with no automatic expiration, for as long as your account remains active. We do not use this saved text for model training, human review or analysis, or product improvement.

Request logs and Screen Context (OCR)

For each dictation, Openbroca stores an account-linked request log needed to operate and account for the Service. A log can include the text sent for refinement, the returned text, model settings, token counts, latency, cost, and other processing details. Openbroca request logs do not contain your IP address or device information.

Screen Context is optional. When you grant macOS Screen Recording permission and use the feature, the App reads on-screen text near where you are working and sends it alongside a dictation so names and terms come out right. This on-screen text can include information you neither spoke nor typed. Screen Context can be included in the stored request log and remains linked to your account until account deletion. If you do not grant Screen Recording permission, no Screen Context is collected.

Personal dictionary

Words, replacements, and corrections you add to your personal dictionary are stored so they can sync to the App and improve your results.

Usage and billing

We record dictation usage to enforce your weekly quota and any purchased allowance, and to detect abuse. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your purchases and subscription status, but we do not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.

Network and infrastructure data

Using an online service requires requests to pass through network, hosting, and infrastructure providers. Those providers may process connection metadata under their own privacy terms. Openbroca does not add IP addresses or device information to the request logs described above.

Website analytics

When configured, the website uses Google Analytics and VibeLoft to understand visits and page interactions. Those providers may process browser, device, and network information under their own terms. These website analytics tools are separate from Openbroca dictation request logs, and we do not intentionally send them your dictation audio, transcripts, refined text, or Screen Context.

How we use your information

  • Provide dictation, translation, refinement, and Screen Context.
  • Maintain your account, history, and personal dictionary.
  • Enforce quotas, process payments, and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • Communicate with you about the Service, including support.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your transcripts, refined text, request logs, or Screen Context for model training, human review or analysis, or product improvement.

Service providers we share with

We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed to do so. These include:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account, history, and dictionary.
  • AI model providers — cloud speech recognition and text refinement. Audio and text are processed to return your result and are handled under each provider’s terms.
  • Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers — to serve the website and run the backend.
  • Google Analytics and VibeLoft — optional website analytics when configured.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users’ safety, or as part of a business transfer.

Data retention

  • Audio recordings: not stored by Openbroca. AI providers process audio under their own terms.
  • Raw transcripts, refined text, request logs, and Screen Context: kept indefinitely, with no automatic expiration, for as long as your account remains active.
  • Account and personal dictionary data: kept for as long as your account remains active.

To delete your account, contact support@openbroca.com. Once we verify the request, we immediately and permanently delete the account’s associated raw transcripts, refined text, request logs, Screen Context, account data, dictionary data, and copies in our backups.

Your rights and choices

You can review your usage and subscription from your account, and you control microphone and Screen Recording permissions in macOS System Settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make one of these requests or delete your account, contact support@openbroca.com.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls that restrict each account’s data to that account — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any issue.

International transfers

Openbroca operates online, and your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by the service providers listed above. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Children

The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
